Until recently we were happily insured by Broker Direct PLC insurance (https://brokerdirect.co.uk) but when we tried to make a claim on our insurance they voided our insurance. Why???
Think about it; you take out an insurance policy in good faith and it is only when you come to make a claim on it, when you need help the most, that the insurance is withdrawn. This raises so many questions for me about how insurance is regulated and how far the public can go to take action against insurance companies who operate without the integrity you would expect.
For example, if you are making a claim for a car that has been written off it is difficult to get a payout that buys you an exact match, in terms of the vehicle and any warranty that you had on it. In fact, you are almost expected to be out of pocket, even if the accident that caused the damage was not your fault.
In my case we have some cracks in our walls that concern us, so we spoke to our insurance to ask what to do. They ended up voiding our insurance.
We moved into our house in 2012 as renters. We bought our house in 2021. The house was originally built by the MOD in the 1950’s as officers’ accommodation and the MOD sold the land, and the properties, to a company called Annington who carried out various modifications and pieces of work before selling the properties to the public.
It is a lovely house with big rooms and all of the walls are solid, unlike houses built in the past 30 years with hollow walls and small rooms.
