We need to speak to some insurance companies to find out what they would need to insure us.
We are currently waiting on recordings of phone calls to Grove & Dean and copies of the insurance application (proposal) and a copy of the original schedule.
We will provide updates as we find out more.
One week later…we have found a company that we expect to offer a policy of sorts. Interestingly, the criteria that insurance companies would accept to clarify any questions about underpinning seems to be the survey that we have, which suggests that there are no signs of any repairs of that nature.
Another two weeks later, our quote for buildings and contents insurance is now well over £800 for a year!!
18 March…we can get insurance for around £500 but won’t be covered for subsidence.
We’ve had some communications from Grove & Dean, but they have not got the phone recordings of the calls we made prior to taking insurance out. Additionally there are some other discrepancies which we need to question them about.
We contacted Broker Direct PLC insurance to see if they believe they have got all the information that they need to pursue our complaint. They have referred to us to a phone call they made to us on 17th February requesting a survey of the garage (that will be the 3rd survey since we decided to buy the house if they carry another out). There were no phone calls on the 17th February, though, and no requests to us to have a survey carried out.
It took Broker Direct PLC insurance a few days to correct their mistake and to send us an email explaining that they meant the 7th February. I replied to repeat that we have never said that will are not prepared to have a third survey carried out.
5 April and this week has been quite a week, with something of a revelation! Time for another page!
